tripadvisorWe love the Wilderness Station and all the animals.Very friendly staff and lots of educational programs offered. We especially enjoyed the scavenger hunt with our grandchildren.
MoreWe like this place because it helps us learn new things about nature. We like the different classes they offer for all age groups. They also have disc golf you can rent the discs for, they have backpacks and hiking things you can borrow, they have planned out hiking guides, hiking trails, camping, snakes and turtles (in cages) they have so you can see them in the shop and some unique items for sale in the shop. You can also have birthday parties there and one of their staff will teach you some intresting facts based off what topic you choose.
MoreThis is a small museum and gift shop located inside Barfield park. They have some snacks, toys, and hygiene items. Free admission and parking. Close to many trails.
MoreThe Wilderness Station is the start of some really good hikes in a hilly woods and along a stream. The shop there is great for nature items and things for kid. They welcome dogs, too.
MoreThis park is very safe and well maintained. The trail behind the Wildernesses station gives you the option of a couple of different trail lengths. I feel like I am on some of the trails in the Smokies. Some good hills and valleys for a good work out. Or you can take the paved trails if you prefer. The paved trail goes by a stream and up to a camping area about a mile back. Inside the station you get to meet a few snakes, and turtles, and possum is there now. Hummingbird birds should be showing up soon. The park is just minutes from downtown Murfreesbro but it makes me feel I have gone to the mountains.
