Kelsey Creek Park & Farm Park

Kelsey Creek Park and Farm, a sedate 150-acre park is a favorite with kids not only for the grass, sand and slides, but also for its resident population of pigs, chickens, horses and other farm animals. Kids get up close and personal with the animals, and have the opportunity to learn about animal care. For adults, the park offers more than two miles of hiking trails, including a gravel trail ideal for walking, jogging or biking. Admission to the park is free, so bring lunch and relax at one of the picnic tables.

I live near this park, so it takes me about 15 minutes to get there. I usually go up Lake Hills Connector Road, and almost at the top, where the guardrail ends, there is one of the paths where you can start. I recommend turning right there, and you will see some cell towers. After you pass by those towers, you will find the entrance that leads into the densest part of the forest. There is incredible silence, peaceful and quiet. This is the kind of place you want to go after something bad has happened in your life, just to think about things. I expected to see some wildlife, but fortunately I didn’t. There are some gnats, but nothing serious. In general, you can go for a slow hike and spend time with your thoughts, or you can just sit on one of the wooden benches and take a rest. Overall, that’s how I experienced this place. Recently, I started from the main entrance, which is the entrance to Kelsey Creek Farm. There are always very few people walking here, so I hope it will become one of your favorite places to visit.

There is plenty of parking for walkers and also running groups to meet and run along the trails in Bellevue.

It used to be our favourite spot : well cared for grounds, few animals are delightful to watch , severs trails through the natural forest with creeks & small waterfalls , especially after rainy days. Lately , we started seeing homeless men in the woods , that definitely made us uncomfortable , to say the least , if not for our 90 lbs dog . During the day, there are always moms with kids , joggers & walkers of all ages. Once I came to the office and brought to the staff’s attention that we saw homeless people camping by the creek , they did not seem to be bothered by this fact. Well, last Friday , we took our usual mid day stroll on the trails and met 2 ghastly looking men on separate occasions : one was squatting in the creek, another one aimlessly wandering in the woods . At 2 pm , in a bright day light , at the full parking lot , we returned to the my car to find a driver’s side window smashed . The rest of the day I spent on the phone with the police & insurance. Needless to say , our experience was ruined .

Special to have a farming experience like the park. fun as a way to learn farming with animal caring and activities for a special time there. Will try to come back when the warmer weather returns soon.

We came during a weekday and the park was quiet with the lot filled with just a handful of cars. A large sign warned of break ins and to remove all valuables from the car. We believed it when we stepped out of the car and onto a large swath of safety glass, maybe someone’s window. From the parking lot we first encountered an open picnic area with BBQs. Exiting the picnic area we entered a large grassy area. Off to the right was the busiest part of the park with kids dashing around the playground with its equipment shaped like a John Deere tractor. A pretty nice set for the surrounding neighborhood. To the left and across the road was the barns and farmhouse. Since it was closed we decided not to walk further and instead enjoyed watching three goats chase each other back and forth. Eventually the goats disappeared in their little home and we wandered back to our car.Further exploration will be needed on a future trip.
