Across from the Center for Creative Photography on the university campus, this small gallery always seems to have funky, unexpected works of contemporary art to display. I have been here three times and each time, the art I see makes me reflect and think quite deeply. From textile to photography to videos, I’ve seen many types of works here.Their ‘mission’ is to bring contemporary art from outside the region to their students, and even though I am not a student I can thankfully benefit from that too.My favorite exhibition was called ‘A love letter to this bridge called my back’, about women of color across generations and about the various types of violences (which are increasing again today) such as racial, gender, colonial, and structural. In a way very humbling to think about as not-a-person-of-color myself.Free of charge, open Monday through Friday – although I have seen it closed during these supposed open hours – you may want to call before visiting.
