Reviews
tripadvisorThis was a cheap night at a just ok hotel. Overall, the bathroom was clean, there were clean towels and check in was easy. Breakfast was typical hotel food. The negatives- the closet housing the iron/hanging clothes area was covered in mold and smelled awful. We didn't open the door until I went to find an iron the next morning and the mold smell was overpowering. The walls are pretty thin. There were some rowdy teens in rooms around us that we could hear very clearly. And the room temperature did not stay consistent with the old units. If you want a cheap place, it'll do.
MoreWe had planned to stay in Owego, NY but our usual hotels were double their typical rates (probably college move-in traffic combined with a HS reunion), and this place was quite inexpensive. My title refers to the fact that we had a place to sleep and towels, we felt safe and were offered food - full stop. This could be a much better place if an effort were made to maintain and spiff it up. For example, in our clean bathroom, there was no towel rack, only a double robe hook on the door. It was been bashed in and is subsequently unusable on one side because it had been smashed into the wall many times, as evidenced by the obvious wall patching where it hits. The faucet was placed so far from the sink that when you wash your hands the water went all over the counter. (My husband noticed the same thing in a common area restroom.) The vanity lights were two different colors, warm on one side and cool on the other. The hallway carpets could use a good cleaning - I couldn't figure out why a room had concrete in the area leading into it. It wasn't stained concrete, it was stained gray carpet. Breakfast was the usual hotel setup, cereal, bread, etc. The three tray hot food area had 1) Sausage patties 2) More sausage patties 3) Hard boiled eggs floating in hot water. (Admittedly they could have been soft boiled to start, but I doubt it, and they would be hard boiled by the time people ate them.) We went elsewhere to eat. The outdoor lounge area had patio furniture that looked like it had been heavily vandalized. I don't know why it had not been removed. To the hotel's credit, the staff was pleasant and hard working. I noticed that guests had to wait at the front desk because the clerk was in another room folding towels. The management should consider raising the rates a little and hiring more people, and pay a little more attention to details and maintenance.
MoreWe enjoyed our two nights at this hotel. We had a HUGE room -- some type of suite, I think. It was clean and quiet (I am a very light sleeper so this is saying a lot!). We never really heard any other guests once we were in our room. The only noises we had were mechanical and not very loud (i.e., ice machine a few times, elevator). The bed linens are really, really soft and comfy and not a bit scratchy and the bed was comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only blip we had was a very small leak that was coming from the room over ours from the whirlpool tub; it was just dripping for a little bit. The handyman responded quickly to our concerns (it didn't interfere with our room or stay but we wanted them to know in case it became worse). He said they would fix it as soon as they could (after we were checked out). The only negative thing we would say is that the breakfast was a little lack-luster -- the first morning it seemed like they were running out of some things. The second morning was a bit better. In their defense, the owners are new (just the last month) and are still learning. Overall, we would we recommend this hotel and enjoyed our stay.
MoreThis area experienced a week-long state-of-emergency, after record snowfall and 100k power outages in the region, in the early hours of April 19th. All hotels in the area were booked, either by displaced residents without power, or by the powerline and treeremoval employees who transferred into the region to support the recovery. Purpose of this review is to identify the hotel manager Kishan, and staff Erica (sp?) and Joe for their exempliary support and accommodation for those of us who were struggling. My own experience, with no rooms available, I was allowed to use the house Wi-Fi (for two days) so I could continue working and offers to use Staff-assigned facilities (hot shower, etc...).They were the best.
MoreIf you are looking to save some Money by staying here DON’T. Regardless of how much you pay, a room should be clean especially during these times. Gross floor, unfriendly staff, no room supplies. Nasty.
