tripadvisorWhen you come from a different state to see a place that says it is open, you expect it to be, especially when it is in an area where there is little to do. The area that shows the houses opens in April. We were able to find the location of the original fort. The setting was beautiful the trip was not a total waste.
MoreThis place is full of history. ...and it's living history in that there are people who dress the part and do demonstrations. It's a must-see attraction if in or around Lexington. The gift shop and campground store have some unique things.
MoreWhat a wonderful place! We didn't realize how much there would be to see, so we didn't allow enough time. Our kids are grown now, but this is the sort of place that I used to love to take my kids, so that they could learn much of their history in a more real, tangible way than to have to dig it out of dry history textbooks. Thank you, staff and volunteers of Boonesborough Fort. If we're ever back in Kentucky, we'll visit with you again.
MoreUnimpressive...kinda dead...just recreated so don't go expecting authenticity. It certainly wasn't worth paying to see.
MoreI didn’t realize how much there was to do here so we didn’t stay for long. This is a living museum and they show you how they do the various crafts and even have other events like falconry or ax throwing. I wish we could have stayed longer but we couldn’t. I would probably say that it would be good to spend about 1.5 hours here. It is not easy to get to the roads are narrow. You get on a free shuttle from the parking lot to get to the sight. I don’t know the other way that some other visitors used.
