tripadvisorWe arrived for our 10 AM timed entry discovering all 5 visitor parking spaces occupied, until one of the masked staff kindly moved her car. After our Covid temperatures were checked, we looked at the main floor's large hall displaying modern sculptures. The permanent exhibit upstairs featured several 20th C European pictures, then 4 galleries followed with changing artists. One featured works from a photographer who had joined Mexican migrants in their quest for a better life. A different photographer worked with native societies in this time of climate change. Another area featured glassware and ceramics. We perused their small gift shop and used their clean restrooms before departing for the Mary Todd Lincoln house.
MoreIf you drive you must deal with campus parking. The museum is on one side of the Singletary Center.for the Arts. The museum is free (there are donation boxes). It is 2 floors. The more professional items are on the second floor. It is not worth a special trip, but if you are on campus for something else, it is worth an hour or so.
MoreWe visited to see a show on the COBRa movement and stumbled on another based on food- both well done and interesting.Upstairs was some art from the permanent collection and a great exhibition on forgeries and fakes. There was free parking behind the museum.Do visit if in area.
MoreNice surprise to find this wonderful art gallery at the University of Kentucky. It was a fun time checking out the menu of food that is now on display. The PBJ sandwich made me stop of thing about my art work each time I make a sandwich. Always enjoy exploring new art and this did not disappoint!
MoreWe dropped in to the art museum and there was a Steadmann exhibit featured. Wow. He was an interesting guy - illustrator for Punch magazine among others - and had a very unique way of presenting some seriously twisted topics. Very enjoyable if you can put aside typical art perceptions.
