Four Rivers Transportation serves as a holding company for its three subsidiaries, Paducah & Louisville Railway Inc, Evansville Western Railway Inc, Appalachian and Ohio Railway Inc. The company was organized as a Delaware corporation in 1995. It acquires, as well as operates rail lines with a stable traffic base, through its subsidiary rail operations. The Paducah & Louisville Railway is a full-service, 265-mile, regional railroad. The Evansville Western Railway Inc. is a full-service railroad over 124.5 miles of rail between Evansville and Okawville. The Appalachian & Ohio Railroad Inc. operates 158 miles of rail line, between Grafton and Cowen in West Virginia.
