Packed into a humble little building in the center of German Village is the Book Loft, a multilevel maze of books, books and more books. The place feels a bit like Yoda's house with its low ceilings and tiny stairways from one level to another. But it's fitting. German Village is a bunch of little bungalows, and this is a slightly overgrown one packed to the gills with bargain-priced volumes. The bargain pricing doesn't mean the selection is limited however. If there's a book to be found, it's to be found here, so long as you're willing to brave a trek through its many cavernous passageways.

tripadvisorStaff were very friendly and helpful, but WOW can this place be overwhelming! It is huge, and I love that, but I wish I had been able to go during the week or later in the evening. We went on a Saturday morning and it was absolutely packed! The shelves are well organized, and they even have maps that you can take at the front door / counter. I found the horror section pretty quickly, but unfortunately, its location was tricky: in the middle of a narrow hallway, which also happens to be at the top of a staircase. I had to be very careful when stepping out of the way of other guests. Many of their books were marked with 5% off stickers, which was nice, and I found even better deals when exploring some of the less popular areas of the store. I bought a few books, although they were sold out of one of the more popular titles I was looking for (to be expected with the volume of people they must see every day). They also have some fun merch, including tote bags: I use mine daily! This is a fantastic bookstore and I'm glad I was able to support it during my trip to Ohio.
MoreOn a long road trip that passed Columbus, we decided to make a stop just to check this place out. We love to find and support independent bookstores on our travels. This one is absolutely magical. My 7-year old was so impressed with the size, that our first trip through was just her speed walking through the aisles to see as much of the place as quickly as she could. I had to call out to her multiple times to wait for me to catch up, because this is definitely a place you can get lost - though what more amazing location to be lost in than a bookstore?Spent over an hour shopping/exploring. We loved the kids section - we loved the prices (all new books but SO many were like half the price you would find in a regular bookstore) - we loved all of the super fun trinkets and book related items mixed in. We both spent more than we should have, but walked out completely satisfied. I hope our travels bring us back to Columbus soon.
MoreOne of the cooler places in the German Village! Lots of books to select from and just a cool place. Check this out!
