Reviews
tripadvisorThings were fine until the second night of our two night stay. At around midnight, we used the toilet, which clogged and overflowed, leaving an inch of water on the bathroom floor. When we called, the desk clerk said she was the only person there and could give us towels and a plunger to use to clean up. I went downstairs to find four towels on the desk. I asked about changing rooms and the clerk agreed. But she couldn't figure how to move us (she said she was new on the job). She then called someone who walked her through the process. She gave me a new room key (no offer of a cart to move our stuff) and we moved. The day after we left we received an emailed invoice which not only charged us for both rooms but charged more for the second (it was room with two queen beds rather than our original king bed room). I called the hotel and the person who answered said she couldn't do anything about the charges. I then left a message for the hotel general manager. The next day we received an email from the hotel assistant general manager with a perfunctory apology and a revised invoice dropping the charge for the second room. I've never heard back from the general manager. We stay at a lot of Hiltons (my wife is a Diamond member in their program). This was by far our worst experience with one of their properties. Not up to usual standards and I'd stay elsewhere.
MoreThis was a complete nightmare! I suggest not going to this location. I have been a Hillton honers member for years, have stayed in several cities and never been so disappointed. At the start I will say was a nice stay, room was clean and staff seemed nice. This was until 3 days after checking out we noticed a 266.00 dollar charge on my credit card. When I reached out to check I to why, I was told it was due to room damage . Now if you knew my wife and I, you would know this is completely fabricated. After speaking to Christina who introduced herself as assistant GM, I was advised that she saw my wife buying Gatorade at check out, that that was enough to say we had vomiting all over the rug and phone..now mind you, we even called down from said phone to pay for late check out as we were out late. We are in our late 50's, both professionals, and again are diamond members, who travel using Hilton frequently. This is a trap for travelers who will be gone before they notice the extra charge. I strongly suggest staying any place but this location.
MoreThere are not a lot of hotels in the area. This is a great option. The staff is friendly and pleasant. The entire experience went well. The room was clean. I didn't partake in the breakfast. It looked like a typical HGI breakfast situation. The hotel is nicely situated near I-480, OH-91, and OH-82, and not too far from I-271 and I-80/Ohio Turnpike. There is a Burgers 2 Beer restaurant and Cracker Barrel restaurant in the same development. There is also a higher-end restaurant, Blue Canyon, next to it. There are stairs to walk up the hill to get to it. The parking situation at the hotel is easy.
MoreI found this hotel to be in very good condition, very clean. I am wondering if other people mixed up this Hilton Garden Inn with another location. One main reason we picked this hotel is for their parking. We have a truck towing a 5th wheel - 50 feet in length total - and need a parking lot where we can maneuver it in and out AND a parking space to fit it. This hotel absolutely has both. The parking lot in the front is maneuverable. It does test your skill a bit due to the concrete barriers throughout the parking lot. The back of the hotel is a banquet/wedding/conference center so the parking lot is HUGE and wide open. We did not opt to park behind the hotel, we parked along the side. It worked out very well. Google maps took us off an exit and we had to cut through town to get to this hotel. That is annoying in two ways. One: There are many stop lights and stop signs, slower roads and turns. This is a pain in the but with just driving a car, let alone towing a 30 foot 5th wheel. I recommend looking at the exit off the interstate that is closer. We did get back on the interstate this way - which made it so much easier. It is about 3 miles difference, but those are highway miles. I would MUCH rather drive a highway with a closer exit and on ramp than cut through town. This way it would definitely be easy off and easy on the interstate. The room, hotel, parking area - everyplace was very clean. I could not see any kind of maintenance issue. The room was clean, fresh and nothing broken or falling apart. The ice machine worked very well too. It felt very good to stay here. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. Air conditioner worked well. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. It's nice to have a nightlight in the bathroom too. We arrived at 5:00 and the two women that were at the desk were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They had very good customer service skills. They took the time to explain a bit about their hotel and how the breakfast worked. There are at least a couple restaurants within walking distance. We went to Burgers 2 Beer that is across the parking lot. We recommend it. The food was good, and they have many beer choices with a knowledgeable bartender. The breakfast was supposed to start at 6:00 am. That is the ONLY issue with this hotel. I have read in other reviews that the morning staff show up late so breakfast is late. Well, this happened during our stay also. I think maybe the hotel should fix this issue. We were up very early to get on the road. We were ready at 6:00. We checked twice to see if breakfast was ready and available and it was not. There were also no staff available to ask. At 6:25 am we went back down to the front desk and breakfast area. There still had no staff available. Instead of walking back to our room, we stood and waited. A staff member finally showed up to the desk at 6:30. We asked if breakfast was ready (food appeared to be out). He didn't answer. Instead he went to his computer, checked something on it, then said yes (I guess he had to see if we paid for breakfast in advance). As we sat eating breakfast, we noticed more staff coming in to the restaurant area. We started a half hour later to our drive due to this. Now about breakfast. It was very good. I recommend paying for it in advance. We paid $10 per person for the breakfast buffet. Paying the morning of the breakfast buffet would cost $17 per person. The breakfast buffet is very good. They had REAL scrambled eggs, very good fried potatoes and sausage links. The sausage links were good quality and delicious. The coffee was good. I did not see bread for toast, but they had muffins and danish. There was a bowl of oranges and apples (wrapped in plastic wrap). The offered juices and had milk in a pitcher for cereal, but we poured ourselves glass of milk to drink instead. This is a better quality breakfast than most hotel breakfasts - it was worth paying the extra money for breakfast. They also have a menu for cooked to order breakfasts. I would not hesitate staying here again if I was ever in the area.
MoreGreat location, but this property needs to be updated. Numerous ice machines broken and bathroom tiles had some black spots. Older reviews mentioned the same issue of a much needed renovation. I just glanced at the number ratings and did not read reviews before booking. I definitely would have driven to another town if I had known. There were some positives, location is great, your close to a lot of restaurants and staff were very friendly.
