tripadvisorThis is a nice place to get away from the noise and congestion of the Washington suburbs. It is located in Gaithersburg Maryland just off Interstate 270 however a bit tricky getting to it. Once there there are two garages offering free parking. Usually they are not full. It isacomplex of shops, restaurants, a movie theater, apartments and hotels centered around a large lake surrounded by a walking path, trees, green spaces and benches. Paddle boats for rent for the lake. Periodic live entertainment on the dock area. Many people picnic near the playground area though there are no picnic tables. No public restrooms provided in this complex regretfully. For rest rooms you have to use the ones in the hotel or restaurant lobbies. Probably due to the high rent charged to the tenants prices tend to be a bit higher here than in other similar areas. The complex is kept clean and is very safe.
MoreUnless you enjoy being accosted by overly aggressive security, perhaps shop elsewhere. The last two times I've shopped at Rio, I've been stopped by the most obnoxious security guards in the parking garage.Nearly every establishment at Rio can also be found elsewhere in the area, so they're not offering anything unique.
MoreGreat place to relax after dinning at one of the restaurants in the area! Great for families and friends to hangout! You also enjoy some shopping and maybe even go for a walk. Either way this place is great!
MoreWe have visited this area several times for business related reasons and always have a good time. Unique shops, good restaurants, and fun times. There is even a Target to walk to if you need anything you forgot at home!
MoreWith the warm, sunny, Spring-like weather, I decided to go out and visit this attraction. There are many restaurants, shops, movie house, grocery stores, a beautiful lake, bridge and walkways, ample parking, etc. I shopped at Target, Kohl and Barnes & Noble to my heart delight. I stopped by the Corner Bakery ( see my related review) and bought some snacks which I partly ate at the small area with benches plus heating. I thoroughly enjoyed eating my snacks and watching the views near by: frozen lake, bridge, carousel etc. Due to Covid 19, dining in at the restaurants here are not allowed. Only takeouts are permitted. I kept wondering when would things be back to normal here and other parts of the world?
