Went to visit our son and girlfriend in Knoxville this weekend and had to visit the Sunsphere. Very cool experience. Nice view of Knoxville, Tennessee Campus, Smokey Mountains in the distance and World’s Market.

Very quick trip in and out. It's history, so it's worth seeing once. You'll be able to get a nice panoramic video at the top as you walk around it for a minute and a half.

We visited the Sunsphere in June 2026. It’s not expensive and you can see a lot of great views from the observation deck. There’s a little gift shop and it is air conditioned, which was very nice for the day we were there. Biggest complaint is that there doesn’t seem to be any close parking. We had a long walk from a parking lot that was a few blocks away. But didn’t have to pay to park, which was a plus . Also on the observation deck, there’s a lot of information on the walls about the World’s Fair.

Have wanted to go here many years and it didnt disappoint. The Sunsphere was created for the 1982 Worlds Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. You can [pay$10 and ride the elevator to go to the bottom of the sphere. Up there is a display of what happened during the Worlds Fair, what Knoxville looked liked then, etc. They have a small gift shop. Staff was friendly. The Sunsphere was well worth seeing and is very close to the University of Tennessee and is downtown. Would recommend stopping if you plan to be in the area , It is only 23 miles to Pidgeon Forge.
