Went to the park to find the trolls and had a nice afternoon wandering the trails, swinging on the swings and watching all the dogs at the dog park. Big park, with lots of great trails. It would be beautiful to visit when the sunflowers are in bloom.

Dix Park in Raleigh is worth a visit solely to see the fantastic Thomas Dambo trolls. Dix, Dax, Dux, Mama and Baby and Daddy Big Eyes all recline, sit, run and otherwise reside in the woods of the location of the state’s former insane asylum from the late 19th century. A QR map aids in the scavenger hunt to locate the trolls. Very photogenic trolls! And less than a mile away is the State Farmer’s Market with its fresh produce and a great restaurant.

Loved strolling Dix Park today discovering all 5 trolls nestled in the trees. Despite it being a hot, June day, the trees and shady areas provide ample relief. Along the route there are shady spots with hammocks that are wonderful! Grab a map at the info trailer, close to the playground area. Plenty of free parking. Routes are paved, but you'll have to venture on a path to get to the trolls. They are huge, unique, and great for photos. What a treasure this park is and the trolls are a great addition. Beautifully maintained and clean, bathrooms available.
