tripadvisorNice station that got our bags fast. The taxi service here is bad. Keep trying until you find one that will come and tell you when.
MoreIn December and again in January 2019, I rode Amtrak's Southwest Chief from Fullerton, CA to Kansas City, MO. Because I sometimes do a GreyHound/Amtrak combo trip, I was very interested to see what the Albuquerque Amtrak/Greyhound station looked like. I had just enough time to go inside the buildings from the train track side so I can't comment on the buildings from the street entrances. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few vendors on the train track side selling Native American items. The inside of the station housed the Amtrak ticket counter/passenger seating on one side and the Greyhound Bus ticket counter/passenger seating on the other side. The station did have several snack/soda machines as well as an actual snack bar with sandwiches/hot foods too. The station was very clean as were the restroom facilities.
MoreThis new good looking building (built with New Mexico charactors) serves both regional trains, Amtrak, and regional and long distance bus (Grayhound). Nice clean well lit at the edge of downtown area. Very attractive for photo ops.
MoreMy wife and I recently spent time in New Mexico and rode on the New Mexico Rail Runner from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. In Alb. we got off and toured part of the city in the area. In fact we had a great lunch at a Q Burger a couple of blocks away and I will review that soon. The Alvarado Transportation Center is a beautiful building constructed to look like the Alvarado Hotel which was a railroad hotel on the site. The building has the look and feel of the really nice southwestern style of architecture. It handles bus service, the New Mexico Rail Runner Trains and of course Amtrak's trains like the Southwest Chief. Which I caught on camera the day we were there. If you like nice looking buildings that are reminiscent of old times, than this is worth a visit. If you like trains, then the Alvarado Transportation Center is a must stop.
