tripadvisor⭐ -5 Stars — I've Seen Condemned Buildings With Higher StandardsI'm going to need a rating system that goes into the negatives, because one star implies there was at least something redeemable about this experience. There wasn't.We arrived at Extended Stay America Dayton North at 7:00 PM for a scheduled check-in. We were finally granted access to our room at 10:30 PM — three and a half hours later — with zero explanation, zero apology, and zero concern from staff. Foreshadowing at its finest. The key card machine was broken, so we had to flag down an employee every time we needed into our room like we were asking a favor. Annoying, yes — but then we discovered the door didn't lock anyway, so it was all kind of moot. When we reported it, the solution offered was essentially you can leave if you want, but take everything with you, and don't all leave at once. So I did what any reasonable person would do in a hotel room with a broken lock — I dragged a recliner in front of the door and slept in it all night like a medieval castle guard. Truly a five-star experience. The room itself was an absolute biohazard. Dirt ground into every corner, cracks in the ceiling large enough to be structurally concerning, no towels, no toilet paper, and an AC unit that seemed to be running purely on spite. And the smoke detectors? Every single one was bagged in plastic. Every. Single. One. Apparently this is standard practice at Extended Stay America Dayton North because the entire property functions as an unsupervised smoke-in — cigarettes, weed, you name it. I genuinely considered calling the fire marshal and I still think that was the right instinct.Outside was its own catastrophe. The lobby entrance smelled like a kennel that had never once been cleaned — dog urine soaked into every surface, feces at the door. The parking lot was scattered with trash and broken glass, and appeared to double as a community auto repair shop, with people actively working on vehicles at all hours. Several cars had occupants who were clearly living in them and did not appear to be doing well.If you have a dog, don't bother looking for grass — what little exists has been completely claimed by mountainous piles of uncollected dog waste. Every inch. It looked like an archaeological dig of irresponsibility. This property is not a hotel. It is a liability. It is a fire hazard, a health code violation, and frankly a cry for help from whatever municipality is responsible for inspecting it. Do not stay here. Do not let anyone you care about stay here. Do not slow down while driving past it.We escaped with our belongings and our lives. Barely.
MoreTravelling through to Florida, stopped here after calling the Guest Reservations to see if a hotel took dogs. We were looking for a kitchenette and 2 queen beds. We had been driving for 10 hours and needed to stop for the night. Guest Reservations suggested this one. The check-in was ok, besides the strong smell of magic grass in the lobby. Went to room, not clean the bathroom was full of hair and the mirror had tooth paste splatter. We went to grab a glass and all the cupboards were empty. Not a plate, glass, utensil or coffee maker. Tried to call reception and the phone did not work so went downstairs to reception and asked for kitchen items. We do not have any, was her response? I managed to get a dirty coffee maker and 2 mugs! Went back up and an hour later took my dogs for a last walk before bed and 2 police cruisers were in the parking lot, called for a domestic! Well it was Friday Night! The windows would not shut completely so all the cold and outdoor noise, including trucks idling and revving at 2am were a fun part of the evening! The beds were disgusting and should be burned! At least they were completely open underneath each bed so we could check for bugs easily. We slept with our own pillow and blankets on top of the bed and, needless to say, never showered. Breakfast was included...coffee, hot water and Oatmeal packages were served with an individually wrapped muffin and granola bar. Coffee was empty and the cupboard with the muffins and granola bars was closed, so we did not see anything until we commented to the reception. I told the nice girl working in the morning that the beds needed to be burned and that the room needed a good cleaning. This is a long term, extended stay for workers, and as the Lady who's been there 7 months for work said, its ok here, most of the people are nice and the police are not here every night! I felt sorry for the staff!
MoreWe were sent to this location from another location without prior warning, and the product received here was not what we expected (and thought we paid for). A rather run-down location (e.g. carpet torn away in our room) the a two queen bed room we booked had the second bed tucked into a corner with no decent lighting etc. I was also bothered by several (extra) charges showing up on my credit card due to the transfer from the other side (that was solved within days though). As mentioned in the title, on a positive note, the pillows were good and staff friendly
MoreBeware of cockroaches!!! This entire hotel is repulsive and disgusting!!! If zero stars were available, that’s the rating I would give it. It has an intense smoke smell from the second you walk in. We needed a last-minute, quick overnight stay in this area and chose this hotel based off of pictures which are nothing like what it really looks like in person. Unfortunately, the pickings are slim in this area, but I never would’ve expected such a dirty hotel. I understand that this is a budget hotel and my expectations were low, but I expect any place of business to be clean, especially a chain hotel. I’ve truly never seen anything so nasty! I’ve had to stay in several budget hotels before, but they were all clean!! We literally ended up staying here no more than an hour and left in a hurry without even checking out. I’d say the worst part of the experience was finding cockroaches in our bathroom but I should’ve followed my gut and just turned around and left immediately. Stay away from this hotel!!
MoreMaribel at the front desk provided great customer service during check-in and checkout, I would say that she is an great example of a long-term employee and a great face for the company.
