tripadvisorI’m a local and I would not consider this a destination at all. It a typical suburban mall which is just okay.Head to Broadripple near Butler University or wander around Massachusetts Avenue downtown.
MoreThis was my first visit to Castleton Square in quite some time. It’s a decent mall. Decent meaning still a functioning mall. Only one anchor store is vacant and most of the in-line shops are filled with national tenants. The mall looks relatively clean and food court was a nice area. I really enjoyed my Buffalo chicken sandwich, it was a first for me. My negative impression was on the number of loitering teens in the mall. Hanging out in big groups and clearly not there to shop. In the mens restroom there was a group of 7-8 young men sitting in the sinks while their phones were charging in the restroom plug ins. Just made for a very uncomfortable experience. Mall security was, “present” but were pretty much ignoring anything that was going on. Not a good look in my opinion.
MoreAs someone that worked in the mall i do enjoy going and walking around or occasionally going to pick up new piercings but it's changed quite a lot and not in a good way. During my time working there i counted over 6 fights and 5 shootings and it didn't seem like security cared all that much, when shootings did happen it was a lot of us store employees that managed safety for guests anyone that was close we had come in. I good example of the mall security not caring was the last month i worked before i put my 2 weeks notice in at the store i was at, there was a shooting in the food court we heard it in our store and other stores around us heard it as well, then we saw the people running two teenager girls ran up to me since i was up front greeting they were panicked, crying and almost bordering on hyperventilating saying there was a shooting, they didnt know if anyone was hurt and just wanted in i rushed them inside and informed my boss, i pulled other kids or anyone that was trying to get to a secure place in. My boss had called security and it took them more than 20 min to get to the food court and all they could say ' from what it looks like it was justa flipped table'
MoreVisiting a shopping mall has been a very common routine in the last three decades . Malls have become central hubs for a diverse set of activities ranging from being an access point to satisfy basic needs for food and clothing to being a social spot where visitors can engage in common interests. So, when it comes to evaluate and rate any mall, there are six factors considered by shoppers/visitors that affect the mall's success: comfort, diversity, luxury, mall essence, entertainment and convenience. Speaking of Castleton Square mall is very interesting considering the age of the mall as it has been situated in the north-east of the city for the last five decades as stated in their website. Honestly, I was shocked and disappointed when I visited this mall. This shopping hub is considered the largest in the state of Indiana. The diversity and mall essence take you back to 80's & 90's eras. The general ambiance is dull. Moreover, the variety of clothing in the big fashion departments is sort of degraded comparing to other locations of the same one's. I just wonder how retailers in this mall can make it to the profit. To me, the only thing worth the trip is the movie theater. Simply, it's an outdated mall with a touch of modern renovation.
MoreI really was enjoying this mall. I liked the selection of stores, everything was looking super clean and tidy. We even stopped and got cookies from Blondies Cookies. I didn’t know how bad the mall was until I went to use the bathroom and walked into a stall that had a needle from drugs and a belt sitting above the toilet. I left as soon as I saw it and suffered without using the restroom.
