tripadvisorWhat to do on a drizzly Sunday afternoon? Ruthmere was a great option as not many places open. Even if it had been a sunny Saturday, the visit here is well worth it. The docents are engaging, informative & the home itself is spectacular. It’s incredible to think of the innovations that were incorporated into the home along with the indulging opulence. Buy your tickets 1st & watch a short film on the history. Then proceed 2 blocks to the Ruthmere home for a 45 minute walkthrough.
MoreLearn so much at here. Very nice place. I really enjoyed this place. I am very happy at this place. The staff is very friendly at here.
MoreI recommend doing a guided tour if in the area. I learned a ton about the area, architecture, and Beardsley family. Check in at the Visitors Center to pay. Free parking right next door to the house. Well worth the hour or so.
MoreThe Ruthmere Museum experience is incredible. The tour docent was quite knowledgeable. Our entire experience was superb from top to bottom. We spent 3 hours altogether, touring both locations (Havila House and Ruthmere). We also attended the Gallery Talk. Gallery talks occur only once per month, so if you can schedule your tour on a Gallery Talk day, it's an added bonus! The Talk itself is complimentary, but you do need to reserve tickets online to guarantee that you have a seat.
MoreJust an FYI - the tour starts at the house down the street where you get tickets and watch a short film of the history. The price is reasonable for a docent tour. It is a beautiful place with rich history. The bronzes, and pipe organ are highlights....but for me the collection of original Tiffany lamps were spectacular. The docent was wonderful!
