This is a top notch used book store. Books lining every shelf with so many to choose from. Well organized and the two resident cats add to the ambiance of the place!

I hadn't been to Hyde Brothers in severel years, and was very happy to see little, if anything has changed! The inventory in the deceptively large building is both huge and eclectic, with books to the ceiling and in every nook and cranny. There is the obligatory used book shop cat, as well as colorful, yet helpful, staff. Navigating the shop can be a bit daunting at first, especially in the cavernous basement, but you soon figure out the lay of the land. Prices tend to be a little high (hint: you can check prices real time at bookfinder.com), but not ridiculously so. Highly recommend spending a little time looking through the $1 book stack near the check out where there can be great deals to be had.

Long live Hyde Brothers! This is not like any other book store I have ever been to. It is equal parts book store and local preservation society/memory vault of all things Fort Wayne. It is situated prominently on the Wells St corridor, which is worth a wonder about as well. Go in and get lost for hours. Don’t forget to explore off the beaten path aka book shelves. There are treasures in all the nooks and crannies.

While the store is an older building; there is an amazing inventory. Prices are just a bit higher than where I usually go for used books; but they also give more credit for trade in books of they accept them. My husband and I were pleased as was the other couple with us.

My wife is a big reader. So I added this stop into our trip. Old book stores have their appeal. Gotta love the filing systems, stacks of books and cats to keep the mice to a minimun. If you go, allow for enough time to visit all the floor levels.
