We spent a wonderful evening at the Desert Botanical Gardens to see a performance by Ballet Arizona. The evening was well managed and the short ballet program was beautiful. A real treat!

The Covid Policy mandated by the Board of Directors of Ballet Arizona caused my 76 year old mom and I to miss an evening of Balanchine. How? They turned us away because we could not produce a vaccination card or a negative PCR covid test. No, a home test wasn’t sufficient. Are we in Venezuela or America! Wake up BOD! We are not in danger of a virus. We are in danger of morons like you who are forcing your insanity on the rest of us who don’t speak baaaahhhhhhh!!!!!

For a regional company, they do a very good job. Not quite what it used to be but overall, they do a fine job. Every company goes through changes in both the administration and the dancers. With changes, I think it can recover. The female part of the company does an excellent job. Perhaps not what you would see in New York but for the area they do provide some very nice performances. Of course, isn't it often the best dancers in regional company get picked of the better companies. You might get to see a dancer that you will hear more of by seeing Ballet AZ? Most of the male dancers in the company are fairly young so some of the parts that could use a more mature dancer might not be what they should be. However, you can only work with what you have and these young men work very hard. The sets and costuming are never anything but true quality. When you go to see this company this is something you can expect. Two things I should tell you. I love classical ballet. Ballet Az will give you that and contemporary during their season. Check to see what is coming up, I don't think you will be disappointed. I also always appreciate anyone who goes on stage and performs. So, it's not New York, you still see a fine night of dancing.
