tripadvisorFor 30+ yrs now I have climbed in and was assistant manager, route setter, instructor, competition judge and kids camp counselor at other gyms nationwide. I worked for Nick back in the day when i didn't know what i didn't know but was just getting started in climbing, and Nick has his first Gym. I didn't know his entire story like i do now, and I have become a great admirer at what he has accomplished. His Gyms just get better and better, the routes are quality, and the communities he is able to generate are ones that enhance life in ways you cannot imagine, anticipate, or value completely until in hindsight. In my 60s now, I can look back and see the gift it was working at Planet Rock, for Nick and how it helped me to evolve into the well established and experienced climber that I am Today. Living in a non climbing area again, after a couple of decades with rock a quick drive to any kind of rock one might hope to scale, These gyms become beyond priceless. Soul Saving. The skills that I attained and developed continue to enhance my life, my fitness, my health. I encourage anyone, especially with kids, but also Srs, middle agers, or just anyone really, to consider learning to climb and giving yourself or family members a gift that develops confidence, balance, strength and community, Invest in this. It IS an investment, one you will never regret. Go Climb a Rock. Go Climb Planet Rock.
MoreThis is a great place for a cold, winter day. The staff is extra helpful. Out 10 year old had a great time climbing. No need to purchase equipment it is all there. Our Madison climbed for over 3 hours and was ready for more. The price is not expensive and you can really save by purchasing a multi day pass. Great place to let off cabin fever.
MoreThis facility was great for a weekend climbing outing for my son's Boy Scout troop. While they climbed and did their thing for four hours, I was able to sit in a very new coffee shop area, enjoying a coffee, getting some work done, and watching out the large windows to one of the climbing areas. This was a great feature for parents, and those not climbing. The troop here had a blast, and this was a great wintertime diversion.
MoreOnly reason I am giving this 3 stars, is due to the fact that when we walked home in and started asked my questions about the place and what we needed to do the employees were less then helpful or polite. Customer service is your job, even if you don't enjoy it you fake it... felt like I was putting them out.. . But we went forth and paid for the class to be certified and then the boys (14 &12) throughly enjoyed themselves! So I wish I could give it more stars but the customer service was what brought my review down.
MoreWhile visiting we were looking for activities for my 13 yr old. This is indoors, the front desk staff was really helpful. Got her all set up for climbing, gear and all. While we have some experience, she reviewed everything with us. The automatic belays are nice.
