William L Clements Library Library

William L. Clements Library was built in 1923 by William L. Clements, who also donated the initial collections to the library. The library holds a plethora of items including 80000 rare books, 600 atlases, 30000 maps, 99400 prints, etc. The collections are spread over 5 sections, a book division, manuscripts division, graphics division, map division and a special division. This long list of items is one of the main reason why researchers flock in every year. With an average footfall of 450 researchers from around the world every year, the result is as simple as having Pulitzer prize winner, David McCullough who depended on the collection to create his award winning book, 1776.
