tripadvisorWe went to the Mendelssohn Theatre for a concert presented by the UMS. The theater is small, and you right away get an intimate feel for the stage. The acoustics were excellent for our concert, which included a jazz singer and accompanying piano.
MoreLast Thursday started the 2017-2018 season for Ann Arbor Civic Theater at Lydia Mendelssohn Theater on the campus of the University of Michigan. The theater is a wonderful facility, despite its age. The play was Susical which was confusing, not being very familiar with Dr. Sues. Looking forward to the next play in October.
MoreLydia Mendelssohn Theater is one of the oldest Theatres in Ann Arbor. It is on the campus of the University of Michigan and is part of the building that makes up the Michigan League. It hosts plays from Ann Arbor Community Theatre and U of M's Gilbert & Sullivan Society. It is a very nice old theatre.
MoreHave attended many performances in this small theater located in the center of campus. Great shows, but often seats located within the first 20 rows do not offer enough elevation over the row in front of you to avoid some restricted view. But if you can purchase seats in the back of the floor section or in the balcony, you will have a great view of the stage and the sound is good. Look for shows presented by UMS or SMTD at the University of Michigan.
MoreI love attending shows at this charming venue. It is small (around 650 seats) with good acoustics and sight lines. This weekend I saw Taylor Mac, presented by the University Musical Society. It was a fabulous show, unique and outrageous at times. The theater is a little difficult to find as it is set back from the street and is actually located inside the Michigan League. There is convenient parking next to the Power Center (currently $5 for event parking). The theater was built in 1920 and the woodwork is lovely. The seats are on the small side so book an aisle seat if you need more legroom. About 8-10 rows from the stage is the perfect position. The balcony also has nice views but there is no elevator to that level and you would have to climb a flight of steps.
