The outskirts of Detroit are dotted with seedy motels that rent rooms by the hour, or for the night at very modest prices. De Lido is a tad above them and served its purpose as a base for a three-night vacation in the Detroit area. The location at Woodward and 8 Mile is central, and as you would expect, there is free parking in the yard. There’s also a gas station on the next block. The receptionist was friendly, daily cleaning was offered (they even called me to ask if I want the room to be serviced), there was a flatscreen tv in the room, and wifi worked reliably and was fast. The room was of regular size and was reasonably clean. The biggest con was the A/C – the machine was ancient and noisy and did nothing to cool the room down, it just let the air circulate a little. Not too nice when daytime temperatures reach the nineties. The bathroom had soap but no shampoo, so bring your own. The room cost $50/night incl. tax and there is no need to prebook.

This motel is decent and affordable. The room was small but neat and cleaned. My boyfriend and I stayed here overnight and it was ok but they heat was on blast, it was so unbearably hot it was next to impossible to sleep. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. The bed was small and the cover had holes and snags in it and it did not smell like it had been washed. The AC did not work and the windows were nailed shut. They have some cable channels and the vending machines are so old and outdated its ridiculos. The pop machine only takes dollar bills and the snack ma hine only took quarters and was not fully stocked. Management is so so. If you are looking for decent and affordable then this is for you but if not don't book with the delido.
