Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Downtown Hotel

Generals Motors Corporation co-manages the Courtyard Marriott, located adjacent to GM Renaissance Center. It was the one of the first Courtyards to open in an urban center, but has all the amenities one would find in a suburban Marriott. The rooms are cozy, offering families or business travelers an ideal stay option. It's conveniently located and service-oriented if not distinctive. Greektown and plenty of nightlife options are just a short walk away.

Room shower faucet was broken a room very loud. Called maintenance to fix during the day and they never showed. Called again that night (twice) and still a no show. I finally called for a 4th time and just said to forget it. Would not recommend.

The hotel is easily found and the valet parking was quick. The check in process was quick and the woman who helped us was really friendly, a very nice experience. The rooms are typical stuff for hotels adjacent to conference centers; large, comfortable beds, clean bathroom. My only complaint was that the toilet flush was thunderous and if you flush it at night, you'll wake your roommate up. Otherwise, this hotel was quite good and, despite being downtown, I felt safe walking around the area at night. There are bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

This by far my worst experience at this hotel. They had a service glitch that basically doubled charged my card for my entire stay.. The room was prepaid the full amount before my stay and still got charged the same amount again…. They didn’t offer my no accommodation or anything for my trouble. I hope Joshua Manior Grosh handles this situation immediately….

Had a nice 3 day stay at this hotel. Service was really good and the people there are very nice. They have a great exercise room with tons of equipment and weights. We had a room with 2 queen beds, which was pretty spacious. A couple of the elevators were down when we were there but it still went surprisingly well. A great location close to the streetcar and the People Mover. Both are within a block of the hotel. Also, there is a nice market 2 blocks away. So the location is just great. I enjoyed the Applebees at the hotel but wish the IHOP had healthier breakfast options. I ended up just going across the street to the Marriott for breakfast. They have an indoor walkway to the hotel. Warning - when you walk through, it can be confusing working your way through the Renaissance Center to the hotel the first time you do it. The Rennaissance Center is just an outdated buiding with 3 expensive restaurants in it.One piece of advice for the hotel - please don't bang on my door in the morning when i have a Do Not Disturb sign up and then come in when we are sleeping to change out a tv component. That was not an emergency, and you should warn people when you are going to come into the room like that. We thought that was poor customer service. Put a sign of the door the night before saying you are coming ... don't just bang on the door and then just come in!!
