At The Capoeira Spot, we grow stronger together. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art developed by African warriors enslaved in Brazil, wielded to fight for their freedom. Today, there is still an urgent need for the liberating arts. We specialize in teaching capoeira's martial art, music, history, philosophy, and culture - its way of life. We have classes for youth and adults including for folks brand new to capoeira. Through our programs, we provide people with a positive physical and creative outlet while instilling values of justice, diversity, inclusion, community, and humanity. Our curriculum, honed over 20 years, nurtures students holistically. Through capoeira's movement and music, students discover and express their unique gifts. We are proud to have a diverse membership where people of all races, ages, and physical ability are represented and especially where Black and Brown people are affirmed. Many of our members initially joined to try a fun physical activity. The large majority have stayed because of the growth, empowerment, community, and belonging they gain at The Spot.
