tripadvisorIt’s been years since we were here, glad we went back. They do rotate their exhibits.Lansing has built 25,000,000 cars and trucks over the decades. Wow.Not that big of a place but worth the visit. Beautiful cars and trucks. All presented in a clean and well lit manner.Lots of information about the Olds family including their home their was destroyed to build the local expressway.Nice gift shop, helpful staff, close parking.Little tricky to find…….Museum drive is split in two. Great place to spend an hour or two of your time.
MoreReally a 3.5 'good'. Lots of very early stuff and related brands (REO, Durant Motors, et al) Less of the postwar era, and less significant too. Many of the vehicles are displayed in the classic roped off fashion so you get to look at the grille and an obscured side profile. That's really not necessary; it's not like there's a Fiesta. I think if I curated I would spend less on the diorama displays, maybe ditch the Diamond Reo (space) and put some of the unrestored 20's stuff in storage in favor of a few more postwar (just me). Some of the memorabilia is interesting if you take time for the signs. The Olds family stuff kind of breezes through it, yet at the same time is too detailed to hold the average visitor's attention - seeing R.E. in a video was cool though! At $10 it's reasonable and worth the time, just don't expect a stellar presentation or particularly strong collection - though it IS quite diverse.
MoreThis museum is phenomenal. I learned a lot of information about the beginnings of the automobile that I had not known. Some of the cars were absolutely beautiful. The story of the Olds' family was very interesting. It is really worth the stop if you are in the area.
MoreThe R.E. Olds Transportation Museum is always on my must-visit list whenever we have out-of-town guests. It’s a great place to explore automotive history while snapping some really fun and interesting selfies with classic cars! I love that the museum rotates some of its exhibits—there’s always something new to discover each year. It’s the perfect spot to spend a couple of hours learning a little, laughing a lot, and celebrating a piece of Michigan history. Highly recommend! ✨
