tripadvisor(Full disclosure-the story will show I didn't make it there last May, coulda drove by on US-127)A jukebox put out the music during my MSU days ('81-'84) and the years that followed on Football Saturdays. The wise partiers didn't go there to impress their unaware guest(s), it's all about friends and fun! We had a saying, Banker's Club Gin, ask for it by name! and it defines the liquor choices fairly well. I cannot substantiate that all taps fed to the same brand of beer in separate kegs. Returning 15 years later, it's a band bar! Just took a little of the well worn space and the place was giving out good music to acts looking to work and be known, new vibe, just as great. Sad to hear from across the state there was a closure but a place with that much juice couldn't be held down! Must find my way back, don't expect to recognize anyone. I believe fun had will always be the response of those seeking a good time.
MoreMac's defines the term dive bar and has been delivering Lansing diverse lives shows for decades. Some are scared to venture there, while plenty more call it a home away from home. The bar setup is simple, so stick to bottled/canned beers and basic mixed drinks. Visitors are best advised to stay away from the draft beer. Go without expectations, check out the local music scene, relax, have fun, and maybe even fall in love. It's that sort of place.
MoreI love live music and this dive bar has the perfect venue, it was perfect. The bands play one set, new band, Rock On! The bar tenders get it, stiff drinks, delivered fast and with a smile. Not many tables, drums laying everywhere, musicians mulling around and you can stand inches from stage. The head bangers were out and I had a blast! Come on down. The bathrooms, floors, the place itself, is just what your child, inner Rock and Roll self craves!
