This was a Helmsley Hotel back in the 80's when I stayed there many days of several weeks, when I had business in Lansing working for GM. It was immaculate turn down service and chocolate on the pillow kind of place. It had in Indoor Olympic size pool which connected with pull back patio glass doors, to an outdoor pool which was just as large. This was a chain of Hotels that Leona Helmsley owned and operated then, until she was investigated and convicted of federal income tax evasion and other crimes in 1989. Although having initially received a sentence of 16 years, Helmsley was required to serve only 19 months in prison and two months under house arrest.
