I was very pleasantly surprised. The docents were so helpful with the questions. The house itself is really lovely and well preserved and filled with treasures from the area. The jail was a really fascinating look at what that would have been like and interesting that it has been used as a movie set. I was prepared to be there an hour. We were there more than three. I had been looking for family history of the area and they were very helpful at pulling out history books of the area and helping me look for local cemeteries. I was able to get clues to what my family experienced when they lived there at the turn of the century and it really was a wake up call. Reading about the lumber industry was fascinating. Learning that the area was a dense woods, and when the lumber industry hit - how that changed the area made so much more sense. We will definitely go back again.

The museum is full of local history even though it's not big. The docent (?) is very knowledgeable about the area and many other things. I talked to him for about half an hour and learned so much about the life in Michigan then and now.

I love old jails and prisons, so I was happy to find out about this one. Its so neat how they kept the original cells. The docents were very helpful. We only had a short time so we turned down the guided tour, but I would like to do that another time.

We stopped by to see this and unfortunately we mistimed and were not able to actually see it. That is our fault.

The museum shows life in early Michigan where the jail and the home for the jailer were in one building. Very interesting.
