Collier Seminole State Park Hiking ·$

This natural intersection where the mangrove swamp meets the Big Cyprus swamp combines fresh and salt water, temperate and tropical plants, land, and ocean. With an abundance of outdoor activities, from biking and boating to canoeing and camping, this state park's wilderness epitomizes the Great Outdoors. When hunger strikes, fisherman and tired hikers can drop by the concession stand for snacks and drinks or prepare your catch-of-the-day on one of the many grills at the picnic area. The campsite has plenty of facilities available, but more primitive campsites are available to those who prefer a rugged experience. Licenses and permits may be necessary for certain activities, and some equipment rentals, including canoes, are available.

We came here with our Grandson, what a great time we had. It’s a lovely park with lots to do the old mining wheel which is amazing.

Visited Collier-Seminole for the first time in April 2026. The park captured the history of the area through vignette stops to read and to explore casually. There is a campground, which we did not explore. As wildlife photography hobbyists, this park was not our vibe; it felt humanized and more public than our immersive nature likings. Probably would not return again, unless during a Winter cold snap to figure out whether Manatees may be found around the Blackwater River docks.

We've stayed in over 1 dozen Florida State Park Campgrounds & this is our least favorite. The sites are crowded together & open. We had a day of heavy rain & many sites turned to mud pits. Not just pooled, standing water but black sticky mud. Most could use a new coat of gravel. It's also right next to highways 41 & 92 so it can be noisy from traffic, especially heavy trucks. To say this park is good for cycling is a complete falsehood. It's hard to put a 1 mile jog together. There are no trails unless you drive several miles from the camp area & your're taking a real risk riding on the busy high speed highways. Riding along the highways is not relaxing at all. There was person I saw riding around & around the campsite loops, probably trying to get some exercise in but with nowhere else to go!Canoeing & kayaking is the best thing here. But it is several miles in a narrow winding channel before you can explore anything. The channel itself is relaxing & pretty being lined with mangrooves. But there's no option to make a loop or vary your route. If you're only out for a couple hours, you'll be stuck padding the same channel back & forth. We won't return.
