tripadvisorFree fish food to feed the fish (and unavoidably the geese). Nice walking trails around the area some shaded and most in the sun. A little museum in the visitors center as well. Different kinds of fish present as well as turtles and birds. Doesn’t cost anything unless you choose to donate!
MoreOur family has been here many times for fish related activities, but recently we discovered the amazing birding opportunities the grounds have! My 13 year old son wants to be an ornithologist, so when I saw they were having a birding event we decided to make another trip. While the weather wasn't great (very cold and windy) we had a great time with the staff at the hatchery and members of the Kalamazoo Audubon! The ponds on the property are wonderful for watching migrating waterfowl. We also had the chance to see some shore birds, cranes, an bald eagle, a heron, and many other interesting birds.
MoreFun way to spend an hour or so...more if you like to hike. The tour was excellent (offered 3 times per day) and took us 'behind the scenes'; a must do. We were also there for 'feeding time' in their small animal area. Fish pond area for feeding fish. Lots of walking trails around the various lakes...but too hot the day we were there.
MoreOur kids loved the wide variety of learning they got here! Whether we were inside the buildings or outside on the dock and walking around to see animals and fish in their natural habitat, it was a fun adventure! Adults can also learn so much, and it is a great place to visit and learn—no matter what age you are!
MoreTook our 3,9 and 14 grandkids there today. Thry are from out of town and when they come they always want to go there. Great place!!
