tripadvisorDisgusted with one employee in particular: Marisol a housekeeper. Kept giving me a stink eye the entire time I was there. I am shocked at the dismissive attitude from the manager at the front desk the entire time I was there. Didn't care when I mentioned FOUR security guards arrived at the 6th floor to harass me and question my guest status. Would it not be enough to bring one or two guards but you had to bring FOUR???!!! Was completely humiliated and terrified, Marriott offered no apology and did not own up to their own mistake. Nothing about retraining their security staff or having a discussion with Marisol was ever breached during our conversation. Just excuses and finger pointing instead of owning up to their abuse of power and inappropriate handling of a situation. Didn't empathize with me and used the excuse of being 'riddled with homeless' for why security had to be so 'thorough.' Umm your elevators are keycarded so how does homeless play a part in this. I told them about previous mistreatment by Marriott and obviously providing my Marriott Bonvoy member number didn't make a difference. Even mentioning I was a neurodivergent individual yielded still no apologies for such blatant overstepping and harassment - didn't make a difference. Shame on Marriott. They will always be defending their desperate and robotic staff because they know nobody wants to work for them due to their 'sweatshop' workplace mentality so they will never take responsibility. I’ve been treated better in a Best Western or a Motel 6 for crying out loud! I will never return to this hotel again in my life. I provided them my ResortPass confirmation number and showed that I was a pool day guest and that didn't matter. The security guards laughed in my face and said they don’t honor ResortPass and that I was trespassing but they would be nice enough to make a one-time exception and let me stay: I told them that I would be leaving and that they should be ashamed of themselves for such abusive and harassing behavior: Told the front desk I would make sure to advise people to never give business to a Marriott property again and shame on them as they don't apologize or ever take responsibility. Shame on Marriott!!! Will never return!
MoreThe location of this hotel is great, with the beach within easy walking distance. The breakfast was also good, and there was plenty of seating. Parking was expensive, but it was convenient and easy to use.Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. Housekeeping completely forgot to clean our room during our stay. I have three small children, so by the end of the day the trash was overflowing, and we had run out of towels, hand soap, and body wash. I called the front desk to let them know. They did eventually offer a room “refresh” and brought us additional towels, but it took a significant amount of time to get this resolved. What was most disappointing was the lack of concern from the front desk. Nobody apologized, and nobody could explain why our room had been skipped in the first place. With three small children, having an uncleaned room with overflowing trash and no basic supplies is more than a minor inconvenience. The room also wasn't particularly clean when we first arrived. There were visible marks all over the mirrors, which didn't exactly give us confidence in the overall cleanliness.Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues weren't limited to our room. The pool area was dirty, and there was a dental floss pick floating in the hot tub. That's something I certainly don't expect to see at a hotel advertising itself as a four-star property.Even the lobby coffee was disappointing. The coffee was cold and clearly had been sitting for a while. I took one sip and ended up throwing it away.I'm not usually someone who complains about hotels or looks for things to criticize. We had actually just come from the Legoland Resort, where we had a great experience, and the contrast between the two stays was pretty noticeable. We enjoyed Legoland enough that we even considered going back there rather than staying here another night. I'll also mention that we almost chose not to stay at this hotel because several previous reviews mentioned some of these same issues. We ultimately decided to give the hotel a chance, assuming those may have been isolated experiences. Unfortunately, we ended up experiencing many of the same problems ourselves. For a hotel marketed as a four-star property and charging the prices it does, I expected significantly more. Based on our experience, this felt much closer to a 1.5–2 star experience than a four-star hotel.
MoreVery disappointing experience.I asked the front desk for some hot water so I could prepare formula for my baby. There was no hot water available anywhere in the hotel for guests, and apparently the only place they had access to it was in the staff area.Instead of trying to help, the front desk employee told me to come back in 3 hours because they had no water for me at that moment. Or he said to get the water from mobile coffee machine, which is definitely not the best option for baby. I was honestly shocked that such a simple and important request for a baby could not be accommodated. In the end, I had to leave the hotel and walk across the street to another hotel just to get hot water. Their staff were much more helpful and gave me hot water without any problem, even though I wasn’t even staying there.Overall hotel is good, but definitely not customer service.
MoreWe lived our stay at this property. It was our first time in Oceanside and we will be returning to this property on our next visit. The room was comfortable and specious but next time we will opt for connecting rooms for even more space. The breakfast was delightful. Above all the location is outstanding. Literally steps from the beach and the pier and all that downtown has to offer. Also the rooftop pool is unmatched! We loved it and plan to return!
MoreUnfortunately, our stay did not meet our expectations. On a positive note, the breakfast staff were really nice and professional and provided a high chair for our little one.Upon check in we arrived a few hours early and had to wait 3.5 hours, so we waited in the lobby and took a walk. The appearance when walking in was okay, though I thought the plants next to the octopus wood decoration coming up from the floor didn’t look good they should be removed and placed near the chairs by the fireplace. The furniture also didn’t look very nice and seemed worn. The store inside looked like products had just been dumped everywhere, with no one working as a cashier. You had to bring drinks and snacks to the reception area to purchase them, which was inconvenient and disorganized. The room itself needs a refresh. The balcony was dirty, and the carpet seemed dirty and hadn’t been washed in some time. The hallways were musty, and the ice machine area looked outdated. The worst part of our visit was the rooftop pool it was really dirty. The concrete around the pool and the pool floor itself were dirty. The worst issue was that the handlebars to get into the pool were loose and rusty at the bottom. The pool furniture was worn out, and overall it wasn’t a good experience. I went to the second floor to check out the spa, but there was no signage anywhere. I asked a worker who walked me to a door with no sign and said it was in there. I decided not to go in it just didn’t seem welcoming.Coffee throughout the day wasn’t fresh, we had to ask the staff to make more since what was available had been sitting since breakfast. We were originally scheduled to stay three days but decided to leave a day early. We just felt the price wasn’t worth it compared to other Hyatt hotels we’ve stayed at across the street, which were clean, immaculate and organized.Upon checkout around 5:45 a.m., when we asked the man working at reception for a baggage dolly, we couldn’t find one. He said he didn’t know and told us to look around without offering to help. He also didn’t know how to redeem a gift card and said to call back later for it to be applied since he didn’t know how to use the new system. The bottom line is that I hope someone in corporate is reading this review. For a prime location in Oceanside, seconds from the pier, this hotel needs a major update from top to bottom to be on par with the Hyatt hotels right next to the Marriott. We were also disappointed that the staff booked our room right next to the restaurant rooftop bar not ideal with a little one. We do love the Marriott brand, but this hotel really needs an update and major improvements.
