tripadvisorMy family of five stayed at Black Eagle Lodge #1 for our Christmas ski vacation. This is our second year in Big Sky but our first time at Black Eagle Lodges. We were not impressed considering Black Eagle Lodges are one of Big Sky's Signature accommodations. The home accommodated our family fine, but the amenities are lacking and it is not a ski-in/ski-out property unless you consider a 100 yard walk to and from your lodge to the lift with your ski gear ski-in/ski-out. We rented a vehicle because the lodge is advertised as having a garage which it did; however, it didn't come with a garage door opener and we had to beg the property manager to get us one after being told the first time they don't give those to renters. This is a big deal when coming and going and having to go up and down stairs to enter the home and open and close the garage door every time you go anywhere. Also, the queen bed in the master bedroom is too small for a luxury home like this one is advertised and is very uncomfortable with a deep sag in the middle of the mattress. There is no door in the master suite separating the bathroom from the bedroom. Finally, two of the bathrooms do not have working locks on the doors and the master toilet room doesn't have a lock at all. Very odd and unusual. We will be returning to Big Sky next year, but not to Black Eagle Lodge #1 for sure. Consider well before choosing Black Eagle Lodges.
MoreLuxury appointed lodges only a 5 minute walk from Mt Village. Given the cost of the Summit, Shoshone, and Village Center condos, Black Eagle is a no brainer. Newer, nicer and bigger. Intermediate and expert skiers can poma up the hill and ski back down Silver Eagle. The poma is just across the street. Beginner skiers have only a short walk, which took 5 minutes while carrying skis. We will never stay directly in the village again. This is too good of an option at half the cost.
MoreWe stayed at the Black Eagle for a week. We are a family of four and our kids are 8 and 11. The bathrooms weren't super sized but very efficient. The kitchen and bar were open and the space was generous. It is located perfectly between base camp, the Mountain Village and Lake Levinski. The Front Desk / Concierge need a little fine tuning as does House Keeping but they kept the towels and toilet paper well stocked. The beds were firm but the Master not entirlely comfortable. Blankets needed more temperature variety and weren't all fresh and clean when we arrived.
