This is a lovely old fashioned square with some good urban design and good architecture all around. And you can find some good places to eat here. It was once very fashionable, now just old and noble as the money has moved on.

You can find some good restaurants here in this historic square where Cleveland and Shaker Heights come together. Nice urban design.

Small comfy stop when taking the train downtown or uptown. I often order the Gyro platter which comes like a gyro salad with feta cheese olives onions. With 2 pitas cut into 8 pieces.. Dig In!!!

Warning: if you’re planning to come to Saturday market you might end up paying $ 25 for corn and tomato’s.There is extremely limited free parking at shaker square. I had only one quarter and hurried to get my shopping done in time. No luck, was about 2 min late and meter enforcement lady stood there happily smiling while I ran across the road with my shopping bags. This negative experience will be with me for a long time and I will avoid the square.I don’t frequent places that bring back negative feelings. There are many nicer and friendlier places around where you are welcomed. On the other hand, if you have plenty of spare change, don’t mind panhandlers, unsafe environment and a place who’s better days are long behind than shaker square is your place. I can only recommended to skip this square and consider instead new shopping alternatives, such as pine crest and legacy. Pine crest also has the better movies theater with recliner seats and good food.
