Beautiful art in in intimate setting. Worth the stop! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and have a true passion for what they do. As a potter I enjoyed the time spent in the lower level ceramic area. The kiln was opened at the end of a fire to show me the beautiful work. Must see, truly a must see. Take your time and enjoy!

I am a member of the Ankeny Art Center. I have gone to all of the major art museums in the Midwest. The Ankeny Art Center has a very small collection of art. It is staffed by volunteers. The best part is its community activities to encorage local artists to exhibit their work and its art education programs for grade school kids. The local community is active in these programs and local members support the center with lots of small donations. The art center is housed in a small brick building acrosss the street from a big John Deere Cotton Picker Manufacturing Plant. The building looks like a branch bank building. It is open only very limited hours so you need to check its schedule before planning a tour.

Although very small, the Ankeny Art Center does more than one has a right to expect. A tribute to Iowans and their arts, the vision is clear and fulfilled by the director. Many excellent classes are also offered. Difficult to get to, only one way end, but worth the bother.

Modest, rotating displays in a building across from a large John Deere plant. Pleasant open ground is nice if you have kids who need to burn off a little steam.

I was here in June to see the Pam Douglas (pastel artist) and Tom Harnack (clay artist) exhibition. This was a great place to spend an hour to see this outstanding exhibition. Wine and appetizers were also served- all for free. I certainly recommend stopping in and seeing the exhibition!
