I spend a lot of time on the road and stay in a lot of hotels, so I can tell when a property is simply processing a reservation and when it genuinely values the guest. Stoney Creek in Johnston absolutely stood out.The hotel was comfortable and welcoming, but what made the experience exceptional was the service from the general manager, Travis. He took the time to talk with me, understand that I’m regularly in the area, and offer to help make future stays easier and more consistent instead of leaving me to hunt through booking sites every time. That kind of personal attention is rare. It showed that he cares about earning a returning guest, not just filling a room for one night.Stoney Creek has earned the top spot on my list whenever I need a room in the Johnston/Des Moines area. Five stars without hesitation.

The BEST night sleep ever traveling. We both enjoyed the pillows we dream of. Breakfast was delicious flavorful & variety like no where else. Travel with our dog & accommodation was perfect to go for walks. Staff is friendly & helpful.

I would like people to know that the pool and hot tub area is CLOSED for remodeling. The remodel is absolutely NECESSARY due to the seriously neglected property. The remodeling and construction team is on site from early morning until 8 pm. The beds are absolutely from the 1970s as well as the decor and safety. The doors do NOT lock unless you pull them shut. The bathrooms are out of service and no employee will tell you that. You go to where they say there's an available one and the sign let's you know they are closed. The key cards quit working at 11 am even though you can pay to have a noon check out. You would think the phones along the hotel would connect to the front desk by pushing 0. They do NOT. The fire place is only winter ready. They turn them off and they are no longer an amenity. The breakfast is ok. It is mainly there to feed the staff and construction crew. They all congregate in there, eating like the starving children you see on TV. Hopefully, you won't have an unhappy employee behind you complaining about any part of the place. The male over night staff will lie to you and tell you housekeeping will bring you blankets. We stopped in there before 9 pm. At 11, we called down to see if they were in route.... He assured us they were on the way. At 1 am, I called back to ask about the blankets and the gals at the front desk, brought them within 6 minutes. Out of the 9 employees we interacted with.... 5 were able to give no or poor service. 2 were defensive and 2 were on top of things within minutes.

All was good. I always enjoy my stay.

Absolutely horrible. Could excuse the rooms being outdated and not super clean, but the treatment by front desk staff and people in the breakfast area inexcusably rude and unprofessional.
