Housed in a 19th-century historic building, Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company (CABCo) opened its doors in 1996 and is one of the first brew pubs of Des Moines. Decked up with antiques, signboards, posters and bottles of old Iowa breweries from the pre-Prohibition era, the establishment's beer labels are inspired from these obsolete breweries. Taking pride in their artisanal brews, you can tipple on their fine craft beers that are made fresh daily. From seasonal to regular and premium brews, enjoy a pint or two of their handmade brews. They also have a selection of wine and cocktails. Their inspired American fare is made from scratch with a separate menu for kids. Drop in for some great beer and delicious food.

tripadvisorLots of bars and restaurants, no shopping and lots of homeless, parking is plenty with a great app based meter system
MoreOnce the sun goes down, this place is a pretty cool. But there are almost always some challenges with drunks or fights...at least every time I have been there. There have also been a few epic conflicts with lots of folks involved. Get a sitter for the kids.
MoreThis is the place to hang out downtown. They've got many good places to eat, the farmer's market is on Saturday mornings, and parking is close and plentiful. We came here last for the Des Moines marathon and had a wonderful time.
MoreComing from Europe the structure of DSM down town feel strange; mainly office buildings without shops on the street level. That's why the streets are quite empty. People move from one to another building along the skywalks. Court Avenue differs from the rest of down town. There's lots of pubs and restaurants restaurants side by side which makes it perfect for pub crawls. However, the area doesn't differ from similar areas we've seen in every city we've visited and as we're not in a party mood, we just went through a couple of times until we decided to cross the river to East Village where we found more peaceful places.
MoreLot of choices for food and drink in downtown DSM. The night life gets going around 10pm so if your not into that, come early and enjoy..
