What an amazing church in Downtown Des Moines! We were unable to attend a Mass here, but we had this cathedral all to ourselves as we meandered through the pews to look at all the amazing features this place has to offer. Very majestic! So impressive! Suitable for a King! We were unable to see the inside with the lights turned on, but even with the lights turned off, we greatly appreciated the time we were able to spend here.

This Romanesque Revival cathedral was completed in 1891. I was able to attend a reverent weekday mass in the side chapel, but had the chance to take a look at the main church afterward. The interior is somewhat unadorned, but it has beautiful stained-glass windows and a grand barrel vault ceiling.
