Founded in 1851 in Boston, Massachusetts, this association was the first American chapter of the YMCA. Since its establishment, it has been dedicated to promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Central Branch in the Huntington Avenue was built in the year 1911 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1998. The building was sold to a real estate company in the year 2012 for developing a 17-story dormitory for Northeastern University.
