Paramount Theater Theater

The Cedar Rapids Paramount Theatre is one of the few surviving grand movie palaces of the early 20th century. Built in the 1920 s, this architecturally extravagant, 1900 seat theater/performing arts center hosts nearly 200 events per year including concerts, fundraisers, corporate meetings, dance recitals and the Broadway Series of live theater productions. It is home to Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, the Cedar Rapids Organ Society and community concerts. It was a gift to the city in 1975. The Paramount is included in the National Register of Historic Places that notes buildings of historical or architectural significance. The style is standard theater architecture, a combination of baroque and rococo popular in theaters of the period. It features a Wurlitzer pipe organ.

Moved to Cedar Rapids a few months ago, decided to see Zach Williams. The opening act light show was unnecessary, blinding the audience at every moment. Multiple very intense stage lights pointing directly into the seating. The seats are for small children, and no I am not by any means overweight. Sardine style - old school. I will not be casting my shadow through their doors ever again. We left within the first 4 minutes. Lesson learned at a cost of $96 bucks.

After flooding in 2008, the theater was restored to its original beauty. Great chandeliers, ceilings, vintage organ. Well done.

I am a regular at Orchestra Iowa concerts here, and it serves beautifully for that task. It also does very well for other types of music and entertainment. The hall was completely refurbished after the 2008 floods, with loving attention to detail *and* to modern amenities. A very beautiful and comfortable hall.

Went to a music venue there. The place is phenomenal for music. We sat up close literally had front row tickets. Had a great time and we didn't get our ears blown out.
