tripadvisorThis was my first time in this little gem. My daughter and I went when I visited her at UNCG this last time. We weren't *looking* for any specific books but we found three we needed! They had a great vibe, the coffee bar looked good, and there was a well-attended lecture happening in the back. What a great community resource!
MoreScuppernong provides an amazing selection of books, coupled with great customer service and a community atmosphere. While I didn't find the book I was searching for staff kindly directed me to similar books. Staff was patient and understanding while managing the hustle of a Saturday rush.
MoreThis has become my alternative to Amazon. While they do not have the size or selection of larger stores (which should be expected from a small independent bookstore) they are able to order most books. I've done this several times during the pandemic, and they were able to get me books at market price within a few days. What sets them apart is the variety of what they do have. Their attention to diversity and quality is excellent. Each section is well curated with a combination of best sellers and unknown gems. While I've little interest in their cafe, my friends who go enjoy the selection a quality of the tea. The staff is always friendly and ready to make suggestions. They're also humble enough to admit when they don't have the knowledge to make an educated suggestion, which is rare in a retailer and something I can appreciate.
MoreA good selection of books, a nice little cafe, and a knowledgable staff! I ordered an Earl Grey tea purchased The Shining for a nice fall, spooky read.
MoreWhile their selection is small, pre-ordering and custom ordering allows you to easily get books at a cheaper or equal cost to Amazon and B&N. The staff are friendly, get to know you, and are happy to assist you finding almost anything. The only downside is that they can't get films, but they're a bookstore.A great pillar of the community who support local writers, artists, and creators. I go in about once every few weeks, and have always felt welcome.
