This is on the third floor of the Golda Meir Library at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. You might need to ask for help in finding this special library within the larger one. Enter the West door of the library and use the second floor walkover to reach the East. Only one unmarked stairway will take you there, but it's worth the bother. Some AGSL librarians are more helpful than others. We were granted access to the climate-controlled rare room and are appreciative of that treat. Quite a special place.

This is a quirky place tucked away in a college library, yet the official library and archives for all maps related to the American Geographical Society since 1978 when it was opened. They house maps, globes and photos of worldwide interest from as far back as the 1500s. You can have copies made, for a very nominal fee, of any map you find. I was fascinated by the early map of Charles Lindbergh's transcontinental flight and photos of the national parks taken before Ansel Adams was even born. It's open Monday - Friday 8-430. Nice coffee shop in the bottom floor of the library too. Take a look at the online archives.
