Enjoyed the Victorian Funerary Traditions Tour- The Good Death today. Would have rated it excellent if it were closer to summer when the trees and flowers would be in full bloom. Tour guide was very informative and shared personally researched anecdotes about the cemetery, its history and families of those interred there. The tour included viewings of the Milwaukee Brewery Barons burial sites. Would recommend a visit to this historic Milwaukee destination.

Memorial Day is when we decided to visit this huge and historic cemetery. We were there to celebrate a rededication of an obelisk monument of the Col to the 6th Wisconsin VI Lysander Cutler. His grave marker was so worn it was unreadable. After the dedication ceremony, we visited the site of two brother who served in yhe 1st Wisconsin VI and had a new grave marker installed Thanking all for their service

You could call this the beer cemetery, as many of Milwaukee's first brewers (and their families) are buried here. Not surprisingly, some of the markers are full on mausoleums.

The grounds were well-maintained. I stopped in the building at the entrance to get a map. Lots of good Frank Lloyd Wright furnishings inside. The map/brochure did a great job with a short list of bios of the more famous people. (And picts of what gravestone we should be looking for.)
