What a charming bed and breakfast and an absolutely beautiful property! Located about 20 minutes outside of Madison, it felt like we were tucked away from all the hustle and bustle while still being an easy and convenient drive into the city. We came to town for the USC vs. Wisconsin game, and from the moment we arrived, the inn keepers were so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Our room was incredibly comfortable, and the entire property had such a peaceful, special charm to it. The farm stay made our experience even more memorable, especially having one of the innkeepers give us a tour of the farm and introduce us to all the animals! It was such a lovely, unique experience that made our stay feel even more special, and the breakfast in the morning was superb! We truly loved every minute of our visit and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We will absolutely be back and would highly recommend this beautiful bed and breakfast to anyone visiting the area!

Everything and everywhere—it’s the little things that make the big thing, and Tom and Heather have nailed them all.The Speckled Hen is hands down the best boutique hotel, resort, or B&B I’ve ever stayed at. Tom and Heather have thought of every amenity you might miss while traveling. Every “I wish they had…” or “How could they not have…?” thought simply disappears. They’ve managed to pack the feeling of home into one room.The room is beyond perfect: comfy chairs, soothing colors and lighting, a fireplace, a quiet temperature-controlled system, luxurious linens, and a bathroom you’ll wish you could pack up and take home. The breakfast menu caters to every taste, and everything is prepared to perfection.The grounds are so inviting. Sit back, take in the peacefulness, and watch the animals—you can actually feel yourself decompressing. It’s an experience you’ll remember.

We always look forward to our stay at the Speckled Hen, but our last stay was special. My sister called ahead and spoke with Heather about a birthday cheese platter for me. It was a great surprise and my sister commented on how easy it was to work with Heather to make the arrangement. The Hardy room is spectacular, and we love to take advantage of the attached balcony.

Great food and warm welcome. You are given fresh cookies and water when you arrive. Breakfast was outstanding! They are very generous with portion size and have a nice variety of delicious food. The farm was relaxing! It was fun to see the animals close up and see a few chores be completed. We enjoyed conversation at the breakfast table. We asked about church services, they invited us to go with them to church. Even at church they were hospitable and introduced us to their friends! Great experience.. we would go again and again if we were closer!

This inn is gorgeous! Tom and Heather are amazing hosts and serve a wonderful cooked to order breakfast from menu served with friendly conversations! Rooms are spotless and spacious .. grounds are beautiful with a horse we were able to feed carrots to.. highly recommend; you won’t be disappointed
