But, did you die?!If you can't appreciate the question above, then maybe this adventure is not for you. Read the website. Reread the red type. Take it to heart, it describes the river well and does not exaggerate much (You may find it overkill if you're an experienced class 3+ river runner).I took a solo trip down the Lower Kinni on May 20, 2024.Honestly, the Lower Kinni isn't *that* difficult. But, there are a lot of class 1 & 2 rapids. This was my first time on this type of river - rivers back home have sand/dirt bottoms and there isn't a rock or ripple to be found. You may find the Lower Kinni challenging if you don't have experience with mild rapids. For me, it was the exact type of challenge I was seeking!Yes, I got stuck a few times. Yes, I had to duck under some trees, one of which knocked my hat into the river (which I was able to retrieve & dry). Yes, I potentially ruined a set of binoculars that I neglected to put in a dry bag (my fault). But, I had a GREAT TIME!What surprised me was the lack of wildlife. While a variety of birds could be heard, few were seen. A couple of vultures and two eagles over the course of four hours was disappointing. But, my trip was from noon - 4:00 p.m., not the best time of day for wildlife. My two main challenges were: 1) getting all of my gear (dSLR with long lens, drone, small cooler, stabilized binoculars) into a kayak without external lash points; and 2) cramming my 6'4, 210 lb. body in a 9' river kayak. The only customer service issue I had was that there was no 5:00 shuttle the day of my trip and this wasn't mentioned when I made my reservation, so I had to be sure to make the trip in 4 hours rather than a leisurely 5. But, I hadn't made my reservation until after 9:00 a.m. that day and was appreciative that my reservation was accepted with such short notice.I completed my trip in about 3.5 hours with only one intentional stop that lasted about 10 minutes. Other stops were unplanned stalls on top of rocks :).Yes, I'd do it again; but, I'd leave my dSLR at the hotel as the bouncy river didn't give me much of a chance to use it. I'd also make sure I have 5 hours before my shuttle pickup so I can relax a little more. And, I'd put my binoculars in a dry bag...

First time on this river, came with a teenager (who is very outdoorsy and used to being on the water). We did a 3-hour trip of the Upper River, which took us 2.5 hrs, with one nice break. I bet it varies depending on the water levels and asking about water levels is a smart thing to do. The staff stress reading the web site info - such as the fact that you will be carrying your own kayaks - and the safety instructions. Please do that! It is a beautiful yet wild river, and although most of our trip was mellow, some sections were not. One note - the kayaks do not have a hutch for storage; if you bring anything, put it in a waterproof bag that can be tied to something (your seat straps, etc.).Birds and scenery were fantastic! Would do it again.

This was my second time with the Kinni Creek Lodge and Outfitters. I was well aware of all of the information to make the day great. The river was quite fun, it is a very active kayak trip which made it awesome. My two girls and I went this time. Here is not what was so awesome. We went on the upper Canyon, 3 hour trip. At the end you get out at Kinni Creek Lodge. You have to haul the gear up a steep embankment with uneven stone stairs. Last time I went, the young shuttle driver, helped us. This time we slightly struggled to get the kayaks up the hill. The shuttle driver came out of the shop to direct us to then load the kayaks back on the trailer. I am quite unsure why I gave him a $10 tip before we embarked on the trip.

Yesterday was my second time kayaking the Kinnickinic with Kinni Creek Lodge & Outfitters. Had another wonderful afternoon. Let me start by saying it's important to understand what you are about to undertake. This isn't a Valley Fair waterpark. It's nature, it's unpredictable, especially right now after the historic flood on June 28th & 29th when the area received over 8 inches of rain. There is debris, there are trees down, there are rapids. Be smart and plan for it. If you do that, you will have an excellent time. The scenery is exquisite and the ride is mostly relaxing, but a little unnerving at points. Go with the flow, literally. Make the best of it. We were on the river for about 3-1/2 hours. The water is cold and refreshing if you happen to tip. Take your time and soak it up. Great experience for the money. Can't wait to go again.

First time kayaking here. We arrived early and enjoyed sitting by the river under a nice shaded tree with tables and chairs. Everything started on time, check-in, dry lesson and shuttle to the drop off point. Beautiful day on the upper river. There were down trees to navigate around, but the challenge was doable and fun!
