tripadvisorAndreas, our tour guide was excellent, and our bus driver navigated traffic smoothly. Worth every penny!! Really is the best tour available.
MoreI had a chocolate tasting tour with this company and was unable to make it on time due to all of the main roads getting to the tour were closed. I allowed myself 4 hours to get there, I am only 1 hour away. I called the company to ask if I could reschedule. No answer. Left message. No call back. Nothing. Being that my tickets were already paid for, I really hoped to have at least heard from them but nothing. I do not recommend.
MoreI was so disappointed with this tour, first it started off poorly: We were told to meet at a spot, and we did, but it was under construction, there was no sign telling us that this was the meeting spot. Then a random person, walked up to us and told us he was the tour guide, but he was not wearing anything to show us he was the guide. He was very nice and showed us around. The second bad thing was that this was a chocolate tour, and he took us to 2 cupcake stores and 2 macaron stores, and then wanted to take us to ice cream, but it was december, and freezing, so why ice cream on a chocolate tour? we ended up not eating anything chocolate! Throughout our experience he took pictures of us on his personal phone, and i did not like that, now he has pictures of me and my phone number. He was nice, attentive and knowledgeable on history, but thats the only good thing i can say. I recommend a sign, the tour guide to wear something to show you he is the tour guide, and he needs to not take photos, and really take you to chocolate for a chocolate tour- i feel like we signed up for the cupcake tour but we did not. So disappointed- not worth it at all!
MoreWe had a very poor experience with this company. I purchased the Georgetown Cupcake and Macaron Tour tickets and intended on taking the tour months earlier but the tour kept getting cancelled. We would book a day and the tour would be cancelled because not enough people had signed up (they needed 6 or more, supposedly). This happened at least four times. I finally was able to reschedule the tour and did not receive a cancellation notification. Upon arrival at the meeting spot, we found out that just my husband and I were booked for that particular tour. Also, once we arrived at our meeting spot, I found the guide only because he was asking everyone if they were me. The tour guide did not wear any company name nor have a sign to indicate he was our tour guide- I found him walking around to people asking for me by name. In addition, it took him 15-20 minutes into the tour before he removed his earphones. Furthermore, I found it very inappropriate when the tour guide ate the rest of the desserts that my husband and I were not going to finish. Very inappropriate. As for the tour itself, we were very disappointed. We had high hopes being that it was Georgetown. However, few of the places seemed prepared for us (or we had to wait in line) or they seemed put out that we were there. We received little to no information from the tour guide or from the staff about each stop and the food we were eating. We could've just googled or used TripAdvisor and found the same locations but that's not what we expected from a food tour. We wanted the stories behind the shops and the food. Also, just to note, the tour did not end at the same start location and we had to make our way back on our own (which was OK given our tour experience and because we were familiar enough with Georgetown) but it is something to note.We appreciated being introduced to new places in Georgetown and the tour did start and end on time but I do not recommend this tour or the company at all. In comparison to other food tours we've been on, this one leaves a lot to be desired.
MoreI was actually really disappointed with the tour. I feel like the website really misrepresented the experience. The website promised a list of locations that would be visited, including Georgetown Cupcakes, and it promised 6 different tasting spots. We had 5 tastings, and we were told that we couldn't go to Georgetown Cupcakes because our guide didn't know we were coming that day. I booked this tour in March (after it being cancelled the first 2 times I booked it), so I'm not sure how 4 months notice is not enough. I also thought we were going to get to see some historical sites on the tour. The website lists a few specific landmarks and attractions. I even asked at one point what historical spots we were visiting, and our guide just danced around the subject. I thought maybe I misunderstood what tour I booked, so I let it slide. The only historical site we visited was a smelly, emptied out watershed path he called the Tollpath. Far from a beautiful sight... My friend and I both asked at different times how far away we were from Georgetown University. We were told it was beyond the trees, but we probably wouldn't be able to see it. Imagine my surprise when I went online after the tour to see what I had actually signed up for, and listed among the places we were supposed to see was Georgetown University. I was also surprised to see that we didn't make it to any of the historical landmarks listed on the website. I get that the way things worked out my friend and I were the only 2 in the tour group. I appreciate the experience not being cancelled for a 3rd time. But, I don't think that means that we should've received less than the experience that was listed on the site. We drove an hour and a half to do this tour, so we were really looking forward to seeing the sights. Our tour guide was very nice and pleasant. He had a great personality. Though, I was a little turned off when he told us he accepted tips within 5 minutes of meeting us. And, I learned a lot more about his vacation plans (which he put on hold to do our tour) than I did about historic Georgetown. We could tell he was making up the gameplan as he went, because some places knew to give us samples, but he paid out of pocket for snacks at 2 places. If the tour is supposed to be a guy walking you up and down a block randomly picking the places he wants to stop for a treat, than that's 100% the experience we got. But if that's the expectation, the website should be a lot more clear about what you're actually signing up for. My friend and I showed ourselves around after our tour was over, so at least it wasn't a wasted trip. I emailed the company this exact message, and I didn't even receive the courtesy of a response. Then, I got a text 2 days later from the tour guide saying he hoped we could see each other again soon. Really? I paid for a service and provided my number as part of the business transaction...not to be solicited. Not cool. Will never do business with this company again and will tell anyone who will listen (which is obviously not best tours) about this experience.
