This lovely park artfully explains the forced expulsion of the Chinese out of Tacoma, led by the racist mayor in the late 1800s. I was deeply touched by the efforts made to expose this part of American history and make amends by acknowledging this wrongdoing and addressing it through this beautiful piece of land full of thoughtful sculptures and landscaping. It is a park designed to make one reflect and enjoy the peace and beauty as it overlooks Commencement Bay. Free to walk through and adjoins a gravel (parking) lot. Best to visit on a sunny day in spring to enjoy the blooming native plants.

Tacoma has made a wonderful place out of this narrow waterfront property. One could visit for a waterfront sit or picnic; or learn and appreciate the history of Chinese immigrants to Tacoma; or marvel at the architecture/art for its own sake. Parking is available!!

Probably a great experience when the weather is nice, but in December it was cold and rainy so that affects my perception. A very well done effort to reconcile how Asians were treated initially when coming to America. We need more of this.

Congratulations to Tacoma for not hiding something that was very wrong in its past but rather reconciling what was wrong and advancing into the future of the city in a very positive way. We learned so much by visiting this beautiful park. Thanks to the citizens of Tacoma for teaching us that we can make right what went wrong in our past.
