tripadvisorIt was our first time at Open Door for a special night out on Valentine’s Day, and it was lovely. They put a lot of effort into making the space cozy and romantic. They paced our courses nicely, and even had someone to tell us about the bottle of wine we ordered when she brought it out. Our food was well prepared and delicious. We enjoyed every bite. We will definitely be back!
MoreWe eat at Open Door any time we stay in Sisters and every time we do it is a great experience. They have an outdoor seating area that is so nice on an early summer evening. The service is great! The evening in June we stopped in I had the Pasta Marinara with elk, bison and lamb meat. My wife had the Jamaican jerk rub halibut over Yukon gold potatoes. For desert we had the no flower chocolate cake. The food was so good. All three dishes were excellent!
MoreAn excellent restaurant with interesting menu and wine list. We called too late to get a reservation, but found room at the bar. Very nice, as we enjoyed meeting the local couple seated next to us. Service was fine. Gespacho, house salad, autumn salad were all fine. Pasta special was excellent, while halibut was well-prepared but a bit bland. Sauce was good. The Resonance Chardonnay was good, but for us didn’t quite live up to its reputation - no fault of restaurant. Well worth trying, but make a reservation at least a day or two in advance.
MoreFirst of all, I had to verify what the name of this restaurant really is: Open the Door or The Open Door, and the hostess who seated us laughed and told us she could see how it could be really confusing due to their slogan with the corkscrew's placement above the name! She then told us it was The Open Door which is what we had thought in the past when we ate here. Our friends in Sisters happen to be neighbors to the owners and were the first to tell us about the restaurant when we visited a couple of years ago. It is worth it for sure! This night I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and we split the beet salad what was large and quite good. Also enjoyed the bread which came with oil and balsamic vinegar. The service was great and we told the hostess as we were leaving how well our server had done, and she told us he had just started a few days before! So Kellen, our great server, I told you that you would be mentioned in my TA review, and here's to you!! You did a wonderful job! Thank you!
