Located in the center of the town, the Arizona Copper Art Museum is the only comprehensive museum dedicated to the mineral 'Copper' that defined the history and economy of the region. The museum is spread over a large area and has galleries filled from floor to ceiling with thousands of objects made of copper from the past 500 years. Do not miss on the military art collection which features 'trench art' from both World War I and II. Tourists visiting the museum will be overwhelmed with the visual experience, showcasing one of the most beautiful metals and Arizona’s greatest treasure.

If you're looking for a different museum, and to learn about the history of copper and it's deep ties to the state of Arizona, this is well worth visiting. Heck, I would say it's worth a day trip from Phoenix even. It is an old schoolhouse converted into a museum of copper and its alloys (bronze and brass), with really good displays and explanations on the history and use of copper through the centuries. This story is told by exhibiting all kinds of items--from old coins and artwork to copper panel ceilings to an overwhelming display of copper kitchenware. There is even one room filled with 'shell art'--artwork done on spent WWI bronze artillery casings. It's really fascinating, and at times visually overwhelming with all the exhibits. They also have a few plaques in the hallways discussing the history of the schoolhouse and the town of Clarkdale. If there is one criticism I'd make, it is that they could label more of the exhibits in the cases. There were some items I was left wondering what they were.I'd say best to plan maybe an hour for a thorough visit. There were only a few other visitors when we were there, and I suspect that is usually the case as this is off the beaten path. Most tourists end up either in Jerome or the wineries of Cottonwood and skip this, which is a real shame. Admission I thought was fairly reasonable ($11 for adults) for the size of the place.

This museum is a unique gem! It is a small museum with a quirky history dedicated to the art and the history of copper. We spent just over an hour there and loved it. The objects in the museum range from WW1 trench art and ancient copper coins to beautiful copper kitchen molds. It was very interesting to learn about the importance of copper through history as well as admiring copper art & everyday objects.

The Copper Art Museum was a real surprise. And what an experience we had. It is valuable to read all the details associated with each room AND the unique details provided given that they provide some unique and fun facts related to the building. What a enjoyable concept this museum provides. We learned so much and found our experience to not only be educational, but we also gained a new appreciation for the world of copper. The significance of copper in history and for our future was impressive. We also appreciated Roman at the front desk. Roman provided some additional detail and background information on the museum owners and the history of Clarkdale. Make sure you take the time to immerse yourself in the details of the museum.

A unique find. Driving to Cottonwood and Jerome and passed the museum. Decide to stop and explore. Ton of objects to see and explored. Housed in an old high school and loved that the incorporated the history of the building. Looking for something different...this is a must do
