Riverside Park Park ·$

Riverside Park is one of Hartford's oldest public parks and its location on the waterfront invites all for a relaxing stroll or bike ride next to the water. The series of four, 148-acre parks on both sides of the River are popular picnicking and excursion spots for Hartford's residents and the many people who work Downtown during the week. Visitors can use the boathouse for rowing along the Connecticut River, get permits to go fishing or during the summer months, and even attend one of the numerous events at the riverfront venue, Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.

This wonderful park is a great place to enjoy a combination of nature and an urban environment, situated as it is on the river right in Hartford. There's space for walking, sitting and enjoying the river, and also a big waterfront where they have various festivals throughout the year - although lately they can't because of COVID. Nonetheless, you can still come here and admire the statues, like the Abe Lincoln and Harriet Tubman statues. The park is clean and well-maintained, and there's plenty of space for everyone to practice physical distancing.

I enjoy Riverside Park while social distancing, for weeks on Sunday friends and other Hartford residents are doing Quarantine karaoke in Hartford Connecticut Riverside Park. Everyone have to bring their own Bluetooth wireless microphone and cell phone. Attendees are encouraged to bring sunscreen, bug spray, hats and/or umbrellas, along with lawn chairs or blanket for seating.

Riverside Park is the perfect place for a trip out of the house during these times. There is plenty of room to social distance yourself from everyone and there are a few nice walking paths. The park is well maintained and is very clean. It also has many lovely statues to view along the way. Riverside Park is a wonderful place for some fresh air when you are about to go mad from being cooped up in your house.

We only walked part way along the walk as this was not our main reason for visiting Hartford, however it was a perfect place to get a view of the river and spend time waiting for the weather to change for the better! I love bridges and river views so took photos - my favourite being one I entitled peace. Enjoy.
