We learned today that DFT is celebrating their 49th year in the community. And they were just named the Cave Creek / Carefree non- profit of the year!We’ve always enjoyed their shows and it’s wonderful to see a small company having the success that they have had. Today’s show was extremely funny and the cast was great.

This was our first time seeing a play put on by the Desert Foothills Theater group. While the play was fine, the temperature of the theater certainly wasn't. It was a typical late winter afternoon in Cave Creek, so why the A/C was on certainly was questionable. We weren't dressed for this kind of cold. The lady that introduced the play apologized but said that the performance the night before was so hot that it was uncomfortable. By show time, they were actually handing out blankets to the audience. The presenter indicated that no one there knew how to turn off the A/C. Why? If the temperature is this much of an issue on back to back performances, some person in the theater group should have knowledge of how to moderate temperatures. So we shivered through the entire performance. Needless to say, our enjoyment of the show was unpleasantly affected.

Extremely well done. These young adults were right on target. The young men and women were excellent

Sherlock Holmes Suicide Club was the attraction. Overall the actors and actresses were very good. The problems were that the acoustics were not good and the actors played to one side of the theatre making it difficult to hear --- we were on the side where it was difficult to hear. Both my wife and myself have given considerable presentations and you always address the whole audience not just a part of it. The layout of the fixtures could have been in the middle of the stage instead of off to one side. Since this was the first night performance hopefully the stage presence will be corrected.

We attended Venues Cafe in Carefree where there was a performabce of A Sentimental Journey -the performance itself was good. The rest of the event was really quite terrible. The event started late, the venue was not ideal with appalling sight lines, and the head of the Desert Foothills Theater and his party had the only table in the place which had a clear view, so everyone was forced to try to look through them taking photos or videos the entire night on their large cellphones being held aloft. The appetizers were quite frankly an embarrassment. They were presented on three separate plates, but could easlily have been combined onto a small saucer. Twp carrot sticks, three strips off a celery stalk, a few edamame pods and a couple of unidentifiable items, one of which had a slice of cucumber on a dried circle of bread. For the money paid, this was terrible value,wildly unsophisticated, and coupled with the limited item menu was not a good reflection of Venues usual standards. The fundraising cards were difficult to track down, we had to request assistance to make a purchase, and when the seller did eventually come to our table, her manners were appalling - no explanation or thanks for a generous purchase. Another person arrived and snatched the money, again, no thanks, and minutes later someone else arrived, with no reading glasses and no pen to record the numbers off the gift cards purchased. It was all quite shambolic and did not reflect well on the Theater. The sound of the perfromance itself was good, I was unable to see the majority of it. I wouldn't come to a performance at a non-theater venue again based on this experience.
